NOUVEAU/NEW -Le vide-poches – Décor de cuir / the Vallet tray

Le repoussage du cuir consiste à la mise en relief d’un motif sur du cuir tannage végétal. Pour effectuer cette mise en relief et mettre en valeur un dessin, le cuir est repoussé avec divers matoirs. Le repoussage consiste donc à écraser les fibres du cuir autour des lignes du motif.

Dans cet atelier, vous réaliserez un dessin à l’intérieur d’un vide-poches et vous intégrerez la technique du cuir repoussé.

Contenu de la formation

Introduction de la technique du cuir repoussé et réalisation du vide-poches à partir du matériel fourni. Le choix du motif est libre mais l’enseignant.e vous proposera aussi des modèles déjà réalisés.

• Présentation des types de cuir aptes au repoussage
• Présentation des outils de repoussage
• Exploration et expérimentation des différentes techniques de repoussage
• Réalisation du motif sur le vide-poches (votre motif ou un de ceux proposés par l’enseignant.e)
• Coloration du cuir avec un fini antique
• Finition des tranches du cuir
• Assemblage avec rivets et bichonnage

Leather embossing consists in highlighting a pattern on vegetable tanned leather. To do this embossing and highlight a design, the leather is embossed with various dies. The embossing consists in crushing the leather fibers around the lines of your design.

In this workshop, you will create a design inside a pocket folder and you will learn the technique of embossed leather.

Cours Content

Introduction to the technique of embossed leather and the creation of a pocket folder using the material provided. You are free to choose your own design, but the teacher will also suggest models that have already been made.

• Presentation of the types of leather suitable for embossing
• Presentation of the embossing tools
• Exploration and experimentation of the different embossing techniques
• Realization of the motif on the pouch (your design or one of those suggested by the teacher)
• Coloring the leather with an antique finish
• Finishing the slices with beeswax
• Assembling with rivets and polishing

* Classes will be taught in French but anglophones are welcome to join. The teacher is bilingual and happy to translate when needed.
